TV Anime “Shinkalion” OP Song Becomes Japan’s Weekly Top-Selling Single with 143,000 Units
According to Billboard Japan’s weekly single sales chart for the week of May 7-13, the CD single of “Shinka Riron,” the OP theme song for the ongoing TV anime Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion the Animation sold an impressive 143,108 units in its first week, becoming the top-selling single of the week in Japan.
“Sinka Riron” (Evolution Theory) is performed by 10-member boy idol group BOYS AND MEN. It was released as their 20th single and second TV anime theme song following their 12th single song “ARC of Smile!” (Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V 3rd ED/May 2015) on May 9. The single’s first week sales was about 4,000 units more than that of their previous 19th single “Ho wo Agero!” in August 2017.
The Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion project was co-launched by East Japan Marketing & Communications, Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, and Takara Tommy in March 2015, and Takara
Tommy has released its Pla-rail toys. The TV anime inspired by the toy franchise, titled Shinkansen
Henkei Robo Shinkalion the Animation is animated by OLM (Pokémon, Inazuma Eleven) and premiered
in Japan on January 6, 2018.
