“Tokyo Ghoul” Manga Author Draws Olympic Gold Medalist Yuzuru Hanyu

Soon after figure skating superstar Yuzuru Hanyu won his second gold medal in his career at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics on Sunday, Tokyo Ghoul’s original manga author Sui Ishida celebrated his triumph by posting a newly-drawn art of him on Twitter, and it has been already retweeted over 90,000 times with 284,000 likes.

Hanyu has been known as a fan of the dark fantasy manga series and has even posted photos of himself pretending as manga characters on SNS. While Ishida doesn’t have a direct acquaintance with Hanyu, he knows the internationally renowned athlete has been reading Tokyo Ghoul. Ishida also provided an illustration of the silver medalist Shoma Uno (his favorite anime are Steins;Gate and Charlotte) for a Japanese TV. It has not yet been posted on the artist’s Twitter, but it is legitimately available on the Sports Nippon website.
