The official Twitter for Kohei Horikoshi’s adventure superhero manga series Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia announced on August 7 that its total print run had hit the 16 million copy mark in Japan.

“Thanks to the push by the well-received film, the comic series’ total print run has surpassed the 16 million copy mark! If you learned about ‘HeroAca’ for the first time with the film, please read the manga, too!”

Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump

since its 32nd issue of 2014, and its next 20th tankobon volume is set to be released on September 4.

The manga author Horikoshi celebrated the manga’s fourth anniversary by posting a memorial illustration

featuring its main characters (and two from the film) on his official Twitter on July 30.
